Local Hack Day: Share is a week-long celebration of sharing everything you’ve learned as a hacker. If you’ve been hacking with us all year, we’re excited to have you back. If this is your very first event, we’ve got a ton of beginner-friendly challenges for you to complete that’ll have you shipping your hack like a pro in no time. You’ll have your pick of technical, design, and social challenges to complete - each with an emphasis on sharing your work. The more challenges you conquer, the more points you’ll earn. Local Hack Day: Share will run from Sunday, March 28th to Monday, April 5th. During this time, you can expect challenges for all skill levels. We will have plenty of both week-long and daily challenges to keep you busy. Week-long challenges will be accessible for the entire week, so you can hack on them whenever you have free time. Daily challenges are only available for 24 hours after they’re originally posted, so make sure you come back each day to see which challenges you’re going to conquer.
Challenges will range from social challenges urging you to connect with other members of the community, technical challenges that will expand your coding skills, and design challenges to refine your skills as a creator and artist. We cannot wait to see all you learn, build, and share.

After you’ve completed our registration challenges, you’ll have earned yourself;

What is a Guild? How can I be a part of it?
One of the best parts of our community is that it allows people to meet and make connections with others, regardless of where you live. guilds are smaller communities within Local Hack Day. Whether you come in with a guild or not, you won’t be hacking alone.

This is a classic problem in computer science for a reason. If you’re new to hacking, keep it simple! If you’re one of our more experienced hackers, try this in a new language or without leveraging search engines

Data science is one of the fastest growing fields in tech. There are so many different ways to visualize data. It can be as simple as a graph or as complex as a piece of art.

Whether or not you have hardware at home, we want you to explore a hardware hack. Check out an emulator or use hardware you have around your house.

Using Twilio opens a ton of opportunities for applications to send messages. Try building anything with a Twilio API and submit here.
Create a Budget Application
Knowing and understanding where your money goes is a great first step to being confident with your finances. Build a project to help you create or understand a budget and show it off here.
Create a Ruby on Rails application
Ruby on Rails powers a ton of awesome webapps. Get started learning this framework and submit it here.
As we all know, stickers are a big deal. Create a database to share the stickers you have earned or want to earn in the future!
Command Line Game
Create a game that can be played entirely in the command line. This could be anything from a text based adventure game or a space invaders replica
Creative Demo Video
Today we want you to get out of the box with a demo video. Demo one of your projects in a non conventional way. You could demo it on Animal Crossing, have your dog direct the demo, or any other wacky demo you can dream up.
Create a Hack to Share Photos
We know that being able to share photos can help people around the world stay connected. Create a hack that aids in photo sharing.
Connect Two APIs Together
Using APIs opens a ton of functionality you can add to any hack. For this challenge, we just want you to connect any two APIs together.
Add to an existing project using a Linode product
Choose any project you’ve already created and add to it with a Linode product.
Submitting to this hackathon could earn you:
This event open to hackers, all over the world. While we primarily work with student hackers or those who have graduated within the last 12 months, working professionals are also welcome to join us. Students can include high school students, university undergraduate or postgraduate students, and people who are in vocational training such as apprenticeships.
As per our Code of Conduct, there is no discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, social class, economic status, veteran status, disability, or age.
Your challenge submission must be completed within the submission period (Tuesday, March 30th at 12 PM EST - Wednesday, March 31th at 12 PM EST)
Your code must be available in some sort of public repository.
If you're continuing work on an old project, you MUST specify in your Devpost what was worked on 1) before this day of LHD:Share and 2) during this day of LHD: Share.
